Ivana Daniell Postural and Movement Assessment

A detailed posture analysis allows us to identify and correct those bad postural habits that we have developed over our lifetime.

Ivana’s unique approach to understanding the importance of correct posture, combined with her detailed movement analysis and movement patterns correction, have helped people all over the world to improve their health and their life style.

Over the years I have designed and refined a postural analysis and a posture correction programme that are suitable for everyone, from the desk-bound executive to the champion triathlete.  My assessment recognises that each person’s body is unique and each person’s choice of physical regime will be different.

The aim of my assessment is to ensure that informed and intelligent options are passed to you about how you can take care of your body, and how you can choose an appropriate exercise programme that will most benefit your body and improve your lifestyle.”

The 90-minute assessment is suitable for those:

⦁ Embarking on a new fitness regime
⦁ Currently pursuing a fitness regime
⦁ With a recurring muscle or joint pain, or with an injury
⦁ Who want to be educated about postural awareness
⦁ Searching for an alternative and more nurturing environment
⦁ Searching for a better quality of life through Intelligent Movement

My Postural Assessment is suitable for anyone who wants a professional and objective assessment of their body’s alignment, range of movement, and advice on how to get optimum results from an exercise regime.  Many of us have experienced some level of neck, shoulder or back pain, which may be attributed to postural problems.  My aim is to help people make the right choices, or if they are practicing any sport or exercise, identify areas of their exercise regime that can be improved, in a safe and healthy way.

Posture Re-Education

This programme is individually designed to re-educate your body and its natural movement patterns, which are often altered by society and occupational habits.

The outcome is to understand, feel and master the safest and most efficient ways of adapting your body to everyday postural and movement needs.

Your therapist will facilitate the correct muscle connections through different but integrated steps. Body awareness, core control, movement integration and coordination are all phases of your journey for the discovery of a new body. You will not only feel good but you will very quickly notice a difference in your appearance. (Making you feel good and look good).

From our experience, the average person takes 10 to 20 sessions to achieve substantial, long-lasting, improvement.w

ID FIT

For those who are considerably fit (i.e. no significant medical history or sustained previous fitness practice), we recommend advancing immediately to the ID FIT programme.

The instructor will build on the progress made during re-education programme and will focus on specific goals such as toning, strengthening and lengthening, resulting in a well balanced full body workout.

Manual Therapy

As a body specialist, I know that areas of muscle tension or misalignment can inhibit your progression and be the cause of pain or discomfort.

This is why, from time to time, I may suggest you come in for a Manual Therapy Session. In these sessions, the therapist will look at your body from a structural point of view and will approach emerging imbalances with gentle, effective and safe manual techniques.

Osteopathy

Antonino Balistreri gained an M.Ost (master) at the British School of Osteopathy, he also has a diploma in sports and remedial massage from the London School of Sports Massage and a variety of Personal Training diplomas. He is also certified in Medical Acupuncture and Kinesiology Taping.

Bringing an experience of two decades working as a personal trainer, many years of sports and remedial massage and over a thousand hours of osteopathy practice, Antonino brings a wealth of expertise to your treatment.

The Osteopathic holistic approach looks at a patient from different angles, involving medical evaluation, treatment, re-training, recovery, nutrition in one complete service.

Osteopathy aims not only to treat the symptoms of a condition it aims to treat the causes due to which the condition arises.

Pre & Postnatal Exercise

When explaining to women the postural changes that occur during pregnancy, it is my mission to inform them about the amazing changes and challenges that pregnancy and motherhood will bring to their bodies, to their posture and eventually to their appearance.

A mother needs to be strong, not only to face the challenge of giving birth, but also to face the challenges of motherhood. Like a first class athlete every woman needs to be prepared physically and mentally for the most challenging and rewarding project of her life.

Exercising During Pregnancy

I strongly advise pregnant women to exercise, but be aware and very careful when choosing an appropriate exercise programme.

Some of the common discomforts of pregnancy can be easily avoided by maintaining a proper postural alignment. An appropriate exercise programme can also play a significant role and easy your way to delivery. However the programme has to take into consideration that ligaments during pregnancy will be loosened from the effect of the relaxin hormone, and inappropriate exercises might put excessive strain on the joints.

Pre natal exercises are very effective and I do advise them strongly.
Ivana Daniell’s Method is very safe both for Pre and Postnatal phases.

Postnatal Exercise

No exercise regime should be ever initiated without having done the necessary postnatal routines. I insist that the new Mothers take the time at least twice a week to dedicate to the postnatal programme, even though they are so taken with their newborn baby. The Postnatal phase is crucial for the well being of the Mother, and in consequence for the Baby. This is the time to concentrate on:

  • Restore your postural alignment that had been compromised during the 9 months of pregnancy
  • Strengthen the core muscles that have been weakened by both pregnancy and delivery.
  • Tighten the pelvic floor muscles that have been strained during the delivery.
  • Take care of the Diastasis, separation of the upper abdominal muscles.

It is essential for every woman after delivery to do special exercises to restore the correct position of these muscles. Most women complain after having had their baby that their tummy does not go back as flat as it was. This is because of the Diastasis, the muscles separation. This condition can be easily helped with appropriate exercises.

I advise to start your Postnatal exercise programme:

  • 1 month after your Natural delivery
  • 3 months after a C-section.

Once you have followed my postnatal recommendations, strengthened your body and restored your postural alignment, only at this point, and not before, you will be ready to go back to your favourite sport or exercise routines.
